Public Relations Communications- Assistant Director
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic Communications Manager at the Assistant Director level to join our EY Americas Go-To-Market Public Relations team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing public relations strategies for our Government & Infrastructure Industry Group.
This role requires demonstrated experience and interest in external communications, including but not limited to media relations, executive visibility, social media, events, speaking engagements and more. You should be a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven track record in managing complex B2B PR programs.
Responsibilities
You’ll be expected to create, develop and manage scope and schedule for moderate to complex communications projects. You’ll plan and assign resources to associated tasks and deliverables as appropriate and manage tasks based on project plans.
You’ll collaborate with teams to communicate strategic initiatives, providing strategic counsel on channels and messages as appropriate.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success in activating the PR cycle: developing media relations strategies, tracking relevant news stories and outlets, identifying mediagenic content and opportunities, researching and vetting reporters, writing persuasive pitches, engaging with media, supporting spokespeople on interviews (prepping, staffing)
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations
- Strong understanding of environmental factors affecting the firm, the practice and our markets
- Proven teamwork capabilities, with a track record of collaborating across high-performing teams and sharing and leveraging best practices
- Excellent research, writing and editing skills
- Detail-oriented management of communications metrics reporting, documentation and tracking
- Ability to see projects through end to end, effectively managing and prioritizing deadlines
Qualifications
To qualify for the role, you must have eight-plus years of experience in PR roles and experience working with PR agencies, either as an agency professional or as an in-house client.
You must also possess excellent written and oral communication abilities, demonstrated by strong executive presence, attentive listening and critical thinking, and interpersonal and presentation skills.
Additionally, you should be able to articulate complex subject matter in a straightforward, concise and easily digestible manner for broad audiences, have demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, and be able to take initiative and work efficiently in a remote setting.
Skills
- Interest in the government and public sector and/or experience working in government agencies
- Experience providing crisis and issues PR counsel
- Experience navigating a matrixed global organization
- Skills to leverage available tools and technology to measure impact of communication initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to analyze measurement data to effectively advise leadership and ensure communications strategy evolves as needed
- Ability to be recognized for your communications knowledge, insight and experience within and outside of business unit
- Ability to act as a strategic communications consultant with stakeholders when key business issues are discussed

Pay
The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $180,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,600 to $204,600.
Schedule
Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
