About the Role

SUNY Empire State University is seeking an adjunct professor in public history/preservation for the fall semester. The successful candidate will teach a fully developed, online course as part of the University's M.A. in Public History. This position does not require residence in New York State.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a fully developed, online course in public history/preservation.
  • Guide students in exploring theories and methodologies in historic preservation, including intersections between heritage preservation and material culture (art and architecture).
  • Engage students in discussions on museum studies, consumption theories and patterns, cultural property, and other specialty topics.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in history (Ph.D. preferred).
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; VISA sponsorship is not available.

Special Information

Applicants should have an understanding of public history and preservation, including expertise in heritage preservation and material culture.
