About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Salesforce Developer who combines strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of public health operations. You'll lead development efforts on complex implementations, mentor junior developers, and help shape the technical direction of solutions that serve health departments nationwide. This role is about building technology that fits how public health actually operates. Your background in public health means you can anticipate needs before they're articulated, push back on designs that won't work in practice, and advocate for the end users who will rely on what you build.

You'll be part of a collaborative team working on our PH360 platform and client implementations. You'll work alongside architects to make technical decisions, guide junior developers in their growth, and bring your public health perspective to every design conversation. We're looking for someone who wants to build systems that genuinely make public health work better.

How You'll Work

You'll be part of an Agile Release Train (ART) that follows SAFe principles. This includes:

• Program Increment (PI) Planning: Quarterly planning sessions where you’ll help shape the technical roadmap and contribute your public health perspective.
• Sprint Collaboration: Two-week sprints with daily standups, regular backlog refinement, and sprint retrospectives.
• Technical Leadership: Guiding technical decisions within your team and helping junior developers grow their skills.
• Cross-functional Partnership: Working closely with solutions analysts, architects, and QA to ensure what we build truly serves our clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Flow.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to solution design alongside architects.
• Mentor junior developers through pair programming, code reviews, and guidance.
• Bring your public health perspective to technical decisions and design conversations.
• Write clean, well-documented, testable code that sets the standard for the team.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Help translate public health requirements into scalable technical implementations.
• Contribute to code reviews with constructive, supportive feedback.

Requirements

We require candidates to have governmental public health experience, meaning you’ve worked directly for a public health agency: a local health department, tribal health organization, state health department, or federal public health agency like CDC or HRSA. This experience is critical because it provides the lived experience of navigating government systems, understanding the constraints public health staff face, and developing genuine empathy for the people doing this work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience.
• 1-3 years working for a governmental public health agency (local, state, federal, or tribal).
• Salesforce Platform Developer I certification required (Platform Developer II preferred).
• Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Track record of mentoring or guiding less experienced developers.

Skills

• Strong proficiency in Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components.
• Experience with Salesforce Flow and declarative automation tools.
• Solid understanding of Salesforce data modeling and security model.
• Familiarity with integration patterns and REST/SOAP APIs.
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks and test-driven development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.
• Experience with Service Cloud or Health Cloud.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements.
• Experience with SAFe Agile methodology.
• Background in public health data systems, case management, or epidemiology workflows.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $95,000 - $107,500 USD per year (US).
