About the role
This position is split between two locations: Meriwether County Health Department at 51 Gay Connector, Greenville, GA 30222 and Manchester Health Center at 300 West Perry St., Manchester, GA 31816.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Provides comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
- Functions as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
- Develops care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
- Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
- Serves as patient advocate and refers patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
- Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
- Administers and dispenses medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
- Provides education to clients, families, and community partners.
- Incorporates strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
- Prepares to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
- Affords assistance with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
- Uses individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
Requirements
- PH Registered Nurse Level 1: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license, and CPR certification. No experience required.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 2: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, and CPR certification. One year of nursing experience, associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license, and CPR certification.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, one year of nursing experience, current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, and CPR certification. Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, two years of nursing experience, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license, and CPR certification.
Qualifications
- PH Registered Nurse Level 1: No experience required.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 2: One year of nursing experience.
- PH Registered Nurse Level 3: Two years of nursing experience.
Skills
- Public Health Nursing Experience.
- Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.

Pay
- PH Registered Nurse Level 1: Annual Salary - $51,811.56
- PH Registered Nurse Level 2: Annual Salary - $58,547.06
- PH Registered Nurse Level 3: Annual Salary - $66,168.17
