Public Health Nurse – Maternal Child Health – Bilingual Required
Public Health Department (Classification 736)
SEIU Represented Full Time Position (37.5 hours/week)

Job Summary

Assess, plan, evaluate and implement general community health nursing service in assigned area of responsibility or special program.
Make home or office visits, giving direct patient care within the scope of standing orders, explaining basic concepts of prevention of disease and promotion of mental and physical health; teaching and demonstrating to patients and families nursing care and assisting families in understanding health needs and methods of meeting needs.
Plan and exchange information with physicians and other health workers for more effective care of the individual patient; take responsibility for development of community organization and planning for health services with community groups.
Maintain records for nursing services to families and clinics, and make reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing plus two years of current community health nursing experience or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Oregon at the time of appointment.
  • Bilingual Required. Testing requirements must be met.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history check and possess or obtain a valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets the County's requirements.
