About the Role

Public Dental Health Hygienists with Penn Dental Medicine are responsible for managing clinical operations, patient care, and dental student education. Responsibilities include implementing clinical and educational policies, appointment scheduling, billing, operations, direct patient care, and developing oral health educational programs at community sites.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate appointment scheduling, billing, fee collection, and patient communication is completed and documented in the electronic health record.
• Ensure all clinical operations activities are consistent with PDM policies and procedures and documented in PDM records, including inventory/supply management and instrument sterilization.
• Supervise and grade dental students in close collaboration with the supervising dentist faculty on PDM educational policies and procedures.
• Supervise and provide dental hygiene care as a public health dental hygiene practitioner.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate oral health educational programs at community sites.
• Provide and maintain expertise in innovative solutions focused on the responsible stewardship of Penn Dental Medicine and its community experience.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or two-year college equivalent and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Employment clearance through the State of PA to work with children (Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting Database) is required.
• Experience with Axium and higher education preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) is a plus.
• Ability to accommodate different scheduling requirements based on the operational needs of the clinic.

Pay

$33.06 - $43.50 hourly rate. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
