About the role

The Assistant Public Defender in the 19th Judicial Circuit provides legal representation to indigent defendants charged with crimes. This position offers a dynamic environment where the drama of the courtroom can be a reality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective legal representation to clients in criminal cases
  • Conduct thorough investigations and prepare cases for trial
  • Advocate for clients' rights and interests
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals and community organizations

Requirements

  • Must be a member in good standing with The Florida Bar
  • Licenses required

Qualifications

  • Strong legal skills and knowledge of criminal law
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in public defender’s office preferred

Benefits

  • Employer Health Insurance Contribution: $25,986 annually

Pay

Starting Salary for an Assistant Public Defender: $65,000
