About the role
The Assistant Public Defender in the 19th Judicial Circuit provides legal representation to indigent defendants charged with crimes. This position offers a dynamic environment where the drama of the courtroom can be a reality.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective legal representation to clients in criminal cases
- Conduct thorough investigations and prepare cases for trial
- Advocate for clients' rights and interests
- Collaborate with other legal professionals and community organizations
Requirements
- Must be a member in good standing with The Florida Bar
- Licenses required
Qualifications
- Strong legal skills and knowledge of criminal law
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in public defender’s office preferred

- Effective negotiation and advocacy abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Benefits
- Employer Health Insurance Contribution: $25,986 annually
