About the role
The Public & Community Relations Manager (PCRM) develops effective and consistent internal and external communication strategies, champions earned media campaigns targeting regional and national outlets, and collaborates with Human Resources leadership to create compelling internal communications that align team members with company direction.
This role works with all forms of media, including press releases, media alerts, digital campaigns, print materials, social media, audio/video, and more. The PCRM serves as brand ambassador and host for media, celebrities, and influencers, managing all on-property VIP experiences and activations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day communications and create a cohesive communications strategy.
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing and VP of Marketing on the overall public branding to project a positive company image.
- Develop an annual communications plan including branding, messaging, community involvement, and other initiatives to keep Graton top of mind across multiple markets.
- Cultivate and enhance collaborative working relationships within the national and local media and publicity community.
- Gather and disseminate timely information to media, agency partners, and internal team members.
- Serve as the primary PR point of contact and official media spokesperson, addressing media inquiries, public statements, and reputation management.
- Oversee press release schedule, proofing, and writing assignments, ensuring quality control of all information released.
- Support and create editorial content for social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X.
- Create proactive crisis management plans around local issues and communicate them to internal and external audiences.
- Support the VP of Marketing and General Manager in establishing memberships in state, county, and area organizations (e.g., tourism boards, chambers of commerce, business alliances, sports groups).
- Manage, coordinate, and publicize community-focused initiatives, including festivals, sponsorships, and donations.
- Help develop, maintain, and reconcile the annual communications budget.
- Continuously assess, recommend, and initiate communication strategies to engage team members on topics such as culture, training, benefits, wellness, and business updates.
- Create marketing collateral and manage internal communication campaigns for event marketing, volunteerism, benefit program rollouts, and property updates.
- Manage and create engaging content on professional social media platforms (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor) for recruitment initiatives.
