About the role

Maintains cleanliness of public areas, employee areas, and guest rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and schedules basic work assignments from Housekeeping Supervisory staff. Receives additional assignments from Front Desk staff and Management.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of restrooms, lobby area, meeting room areas, elevators, stairwells, walkways, sauna, fitness center, guest laundry, cafeteria, locker rooms, offices, pool deck, courtyard, and contents of these areas.
  • Scrubs guest and employee restroom walls, floors, mirrors, fixtures, sinks, vanities, toilets, and urinals. Replenishes restroom supplies. Records tasks performed on cleaning log posted in each restroom.
  • Sweeps, mops, cleans, waxes, and polishes floors.
  • Empties and cleans wastebaskets and ashtrays. Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Assists guests as needed by delivering requested items (i.e. towels, amenities, pillows, blankets).
  • Performs general cleaning of above listed areas.
  • Maintains the Housekeeping Office and linen rooms in neat and orderly condition. Replenishes supplies as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Clean hotel facilities and positive staff attitudes will strongly influence guest impressions of the total organization. A satisfied guest is a repeat customer.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous property maintenance or janitorial/custodial skills preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers, managers, supervisors, or employees of the organization. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English. Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand and walk (6-8 hours), and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
  • Constantly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Employees are required to perform all tasks as safely as possible and to adhere to applicable safety procedures.
  • Frequent guest contact and interaction with Engineering and Front Desk Departments.

Schedule

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated unless you were hired for a specific shift. At times, it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. Business needs determine the number of hours that you work.

Hourly Rate: $21.84
