The Publix Technology Services (PTS) Service/Installation (hybrid) Technician will provide IT technical support for the Southeastern Birmingham, AL area to primarily include installation, and repair and preventive maintenance of IT hardware in Publix retail stores, but also the installation and lifecycle of IT hardware. Your Impact Perform installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of IT hardware including:Desktop computersServersLaser and thermal printersPoint of sale systemsBarcode scannersWeighing devicesNetworking systemsSupport Publix retail stores through on-site visitsTravel between store locations to perform technical tasksComplete majority of work between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through FridayParticipate in after-hours on-call rotationRequired to work rotating weekendsMay be required to work holidays, as neededAugment support in other geographic areas when required Required Qualifications Candidate must live in the Sylacauga to Southeastern Birmingham, AL area, or must be willing to relocate there upon acceptance of the positionAssociate degree in information technology, or equivalent technical experience1+ year of PC/Technical support experienceBasic understanding of IT hardware and industry standardsBasic understanding of Windows Operating SystemsBasic understanding of thermal and laser printingAnalytical and troubleshooting skillsCable management and troubleshooting skillsComputer and electronic equipment installation skillsMust be at least 20 years of ageMust have a valid driver license and maintain an excellent driving recordWork a variable shift, based on demands of current projects. Shifts will include overnight, evening, early morning, and/or daytime work, depending on the taskAbility to lift to 75 lbs.Ability to climb and work on a ladderAbility to crouch, kneel and work in confined areas for extended periodsAbility to use hand and power tools Preferred Qualifications Certifications in the field of electronics or Computer Science, such as:Cisco CertificationA+ CertificationMicrosoft Certified Systems EngineerHP CertificationLexmark Certification3+ years of PC/Technical support experienceBasic understanding of Active DirectoryExperience using problem reporting and ticketing systemsUnderstanding of the Publix retail environment Year End Bonus To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
