About the role
A physical therapy technician is responsible for assisting the PT with non-clinical tasks and assisting in patient care. This may include keeping treatment area organized and clean by sanitizing equipment such as tables and cardio, pull charts, assist patients with basic exercises, and help record progress at the therapist's discretion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment room for patient prescribed procedures and protocols
- Prepare patients for PT treatment by welcoming patient, assisting them onto warm up equipment, assisting them to their treatment table
- Aide in the application of heat packs, cold packs, and assisting with basic exercises
- Aide in the progression of therapeutic exercises with therapist's discretion
- Pull patient charts for the following treatment day
- Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment
- Help educate patients in proper form and technique as educated by the PT
- Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential per HIPPA guidelines
- Maintain a clean working environment by sterilizing equipment
- Assist in checking patients in/out and scheduling patients
- Assist in front desk opening and closing procedures
- Assist in pulling charts for the PT for the next day
- Enhance PT department by accepting responsibility for new tasks as deemed appropriate by therapists
- Assist in maintenance and ordering of supplies
- Clean hydrocollator on a monthly basis
- Clean hot pack covers and sanitize weights on a weekly basis
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Students taking a gap year before PT school
- 1 Year Commitment
- Must be willing to work the Grapevine and Keller location if needed
