About the role

The Server plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience for residents, family members, and guests. This position requires exceptional customer service, adherence to food safety protocols, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Take accurate food orders and serve meals to residents, family members, and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Uphold table etiquette by serving from the left, clearing dishes between courses, and resetting tables for subsequent service.
  • Engage with residents in a friendly manner, assist with their meal and menu selections, and attend to their dining needs.
  • Track resident meal attendance and communicate with relevant team members for safety checks on absent residents.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting and seating residents promptly, paying special attention to new residents.
  • Deliver meals to and retrieve trays from residents' rooms, ensuring they have a positive dining experience.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary dining area, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and follow all food safety protocols.
  • Clean the dining area, set up and reset tables, return dishes to the kitchen, fold napkins, and restock dining supplies.
  • Aid in community marketing efforts by interacting positively with residents, family members, and guests.
  • Promptly report any safety or equipment issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests, adhering to all safety standards and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching, and recognition program utilization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), highly preferred.
  • Exposure to restaurant operations or the ability to learn.
  • Must be 18 years or older or have proper work permit and authorization documentation.
  • Complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Basic counting skills as required by the position.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, understand, and read English.
  • Ability to operate standard serving equipment and possess the ability to deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, guests, vendors, and the public.
  • Meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements, such as Food Handler Certification.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and in the community.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED), highly preferred.
