PT Sales Associate Cashier

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow all company policies and established procedures.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and follow company personal appearance policy.
• Clean Service Desk/Kiosk and keep work area free from debris and safety hazards.
• Assist in special projects and perform other functions as assigned by supervision.
• Work within company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity.
• Support and comply with all company safety standards; report any needed equipment repairs or maintenance.
• Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Perform accurate price check functions; record price discrepancies and "not on file" items on designated forms.
• Control excessive use of store supplies (e.g., ribbons, receipt tape, bags, cleaning materials).
• Verify customer IDs and adhere to store policies for checks, tobacco, and alcoholic beverage sales.
• Adhere to company policy for excessive cash in registers and request cash pickup as needed.
• Observe security standards; report abnormal customer behavior to manager or security.
• Process various transactions (cash, checks, electronic payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, Western Union) in strict accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Secure register when unattended; protect company assets at all times.
• Maintain equipment in good working order; report malfunctions immediately.
• Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards per store policy and health regulations.
• Recognize and differentiate between all types of produce merchandise, including varieties of similar classes (e.g., apples, lettuces).
• Frequently perform cashier and service associate functions.
• Follow Anti-Money Laundering guidelines for Western Union, money orders, prepaid cards, and check cashing.

Requirements

• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the technical requirements of the job.
• Completed Cashier/Service Associate training packet.

Preferred Requirements

• Greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Provide outstanding, friendly customer service.
• Scan customer purchases efficiently and accurately.
• Collect payment (cash, checks, electronic funds) and tender accurate change per company policies.
• Process customer and associate refunds according to standard practice.

Physical Requirements

• Stand 100% of the time with occasional short-distance walking.
• Use hands frequently/continuously to handle currency and operate equipment (cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, calculator).
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
• Sufficient visual acuity to check IDs, checks, invoices, and other documents.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Pay

Salary range is between $16.00 - $22.30 hourly.
