About the role
The Part Time Shift Supervisor is primarily responsible for mandatory weekend coverage of the program as well as occasional weekday, holiday and emergency program coverage as needed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all Youth Mentors are working within the program framework while on-duty.
- Schedule and ensure adequate coverage of the program when there are staffing challenges on any shift.
- Address any foreseen staffing challenges for the following shift if made aware prior.
- Monitor daily operation of the program to ensure compliance with State and Local regulations, goals, and objectives.
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule the work of assigned staff.
- Adequately manage and communicate all coverage issues.
- Supervise, care for, and ensure the safety of youth placed through the program, adhering to established policies, procedures, and orders.
- Maintain group control, watch for signs of withdrawal, disturbances, AWOL plans, problems, and issues, and diffuse potentially escalating situations.
- Communicate effectively with other shifts, supervisors, youth mentors, youth coordinator, Operations Manager, and Program Director.
- Plan and arrange for resident's program involvement.
- Communicate and coordinate with referral sources including DHS, CUA, the PJJSC, Family Court, Juvenile Probation Dept., District Attorney’s Office, and Public Defender’s Office.
- Report to the site to ensure all processes are followed regarding emergency coverage, resident emergency, or environmental emergency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field of study.
- At least 1 year of full-time residential experience or at least 3 years of experience working with children, youth, and families in a dependent or delinquent capacity.
- Prior management experience.
- Working knowledge of the Philadelphia delinquent and dependent youth populations and/or understanding of working with children and youth with complex behavioral challenges.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and cover additional shifts as needed and be scheduled.
