PT Overnight Caregiver-Assisted Living

About the role

The Caregiver plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to provide residents with routine daily care services in a caring and respectful manner in accordance with the assessment and service plan.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL) tasks, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and mobility
• Maintain resident dignity and respect and in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines
• Communicate appropriate information (including incident reports information) and any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately
• Encourage residents to socialize and participate in scheduled activities and outings and assist with those activities as needed
• Respond promptly and courteously to all resident alerts, needs and/or requests for care, and provide assistance with care as needed
• Observe emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the nurse
• Follow and promote personal safety precautions and a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices, following facility guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the nurse or management
• Check each resident per service schedule to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes
• Absorb and perform fire or other safety drills
• Perform other essential job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions
• Deal tactfully with personnel, prospects, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public
• Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility
• Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure resident privacy
• Knowledge/proficiency of facility EHR

Qualifications

• Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position
• Prior 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility preferred

Skills

• Knowledgeable about infection control practices
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to observe and report changes in residents' condition
• Ability to lift and move residents as needed

$18-$23 Hourly depending on experience

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Physical Requirements - The Physical activities of this position involve: Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds; moving, lifting or transferring of residents may involve lifting up to 75 pounds. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift and carry to a height of 3 feet, push and pull to a distance of 5 feet. Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit and reach. Fine motor skills. Cognitive Requirements - The Cognitive activities with or without prosthetics of this position are: Executes tasks independently. Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively verbally. Ability to concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions. Visual acuity. Hearing alertness.
