About the role

The Modern Foreign Language Teacher position at Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ) is seeking individuals passionate about classical education. The ideal candidate will teach a combination of 10th & 11th grade foreign language classes or other courses based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement unit and lesson plans aligned with the K12 Program Guide
• Mentor and teach students using classical pedagogy methods
• Assign, collect, grade, and return graded work in a timely manner
• Proctor or supervise tests on the annual testing cycle
• Monitor and evaluate student progress to support effective learning
• Identify and provide support for struggling or advanced students
• Collaborate with the Student Services team to meet special educational needs
• Communicate regularly with parents
• Assist in daily school operations, including attendance, supervision, and lunchtime/recess duties
• Participate in professional development opportunities
• Maintain confidentiality in student records
• Work collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in foreign language, Classical Studies, English, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Commitment to the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction
• Commitment to high moral character necessary for sustaining ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Proven ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
• Creative problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Able to traverse the classroom and the school
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
• Able to supervise outdoor duties

Salary

$23,250.00 - $30,000.00 per year
