GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The teacher collaborates in the effective operation of a Catholic education program by supporting the goals and spirit of Catholic education in general and the school programs in particular; ensuring an effective instructional program; continuing in professional growth; encouraging student educational growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- A teacher is expected to have competencies in the following major areas:

- II. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCESS
- Demonstrates evidence of prior planning and preparation
- Presents classes clearly and effectively
- Evaluates student progress effectively
- Adjusts curriculum and instruction to provide for individual differences
- Demonstrates ability to motivate students
- Maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning in both the physical environment and the learning atmosphere
- Knows and uses technology appropriately in and during instruction
- Demonstrates an understanding in delivering the curriculum using the Rigor, Relevance and Relationship Framework.

- Works cooperatively with administration

- IV. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver engaging visual arts instruction aligned with curriculum standards for middle school students.
- Design and implement lessons that develop students’ artistic skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Assess and monitor student progress through projects, portfolios, and classroom participation.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-managed classroom/studio environment.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs.
- Integrate art history, cultural awareness, and cross-curricular connections into instruction.
- Manage art supplies, equipment, and budget, ensuring proper usage and inventory control.
- Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families, and participate in school-wide activities and professional development
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in a school setting preferred.
- Educational and/or professional background in teaching middle school visual art courses Knowledge of art fundamentals (drawing, painting, design, art history) is required.
