PT Inbound Freight Handler
About the role
As a PT Inbound Freight Handler, you will perform essential tasks such as loading and unloading freight, assisting in the recovery of damaged goods, preparing trailers, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning them before loading freight. You will also use appropriate handling equipment like forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, rollers, and others to move, load, arrange, rearrange, and unload freight.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, sweep, inspect, and clean trailers before loading freight.
- Use safe lifting techniques to properly load and unload freight.
- Select and use proper freight handling equipment to load and unload freight.
- Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification, freight rating, and safe handling.
- Plan cube utilization and proper weight distribution when loading freight.
- Count and inspect the condition of freight, documenting any shortages or damage.
- Review freight bills for special instructions.
- Check manifests for existing exceptions and compare labels and destination codes on manifests against freight bills.
- Check for special instructions, weight distributions on headloads, and verify headloads against freight bills when loading freight.
- Verify the hazardous material product description, address any discrepancies in paperwork, and ensure proper placarding when loading hazardous material.
- Properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
Requirements
We prefer candidates who have a High School Diploma or GED. Prior experience as a Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler is preferred, along with a Forklift Certification. A successful background check and alcohol/drug test are required. Pay: $18.10-$21.60 per hour. Job Type: Part-Time. Work Shift: Third Shift.
