PT In-Home Companion- Have fun at work!
Community Horizons is assisting a local family in finding a warm, energetic, and engaged companion to spend time with a young adult woman in her home on the north side of Stevens Point. This role is part of a self-direction program, meaning you will work directly for the family rather than through an agency, offering flexibility and the chance to build a personal, one-on-one relationship.

This isn’t a traditional caregiving position—it’s an opportunity to build a genuine connection and spend meaningful, active time with a fun-loving young woman who is blind and non-verbal. She communicates in her own expressive ways and enjoys life to the fullest through play, music, walks, and laughter. If you’re energetic, patient, playful, and enjoy helping someone experience joy through everyday adventures, this could be a great fit.
Responsibilities
- Engage in one-on-one interactions that promote connection and fun
- Encourage social, emotional, and recreational engagement
- Support activities that build confidence and joy (e.g., playing, exploring, music, walks)
- Provide limited personal cares, including brief changes and feeding/medication assistance
Requirements
- A kind heart and a reliable nature
- Experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Strong communication skills and comfort initiating conversation and activities
- Energy, patience, and creativity to make each visit enjoyable and meaningful
- Willingness to complete a background check
Pay
$16.66 per hour
Schedule
4–20 hours per week, typically afternoons or evenings. Opportunity for respite/backup hours if it fits your schedule.
