About the role

Provide fast, easy, flexible and friendly service to customers through the achievement of Food Lion customer service standards. Assist the Food Lion To‑Go Lead in maintaining standards according to Food Lion’s standard practice manual and maximize sales through excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Smile, greet each customer, use their name when possible, and provide prompt, accurate, friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Exhibit behaviors that align with Food Lion’s guiding principles, core values, vision, and strategy.
• Shop multiple customer orders using designated tools and equipment.
• Recognize and differentiate all types of produce carried in the store, including varieties of similar classes (e.g., apples, lettuce).
• Substitute items when requested.
• Scan, bag, and label purchases efficiently and accurately, following company policy and procedure.
• Verify all customer IDs presented and observe store policies for the sale of alcoholic beverages.
• Assist customers picking up orders and complete the Accountability Form from end‑to‑end.
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron and name badge, maintaining a neat and clean appearance per dress code.
• Control store expenses through proper use of supplies such as receipt tape, bags, and cleaning supplies.
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
• Notify QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required for the To‑Go area and equipment.
• Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Aid courses.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Desire to work in a team environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Must meet minimum age requirements, when applicable, to perform specific job functions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers, smart devices, and other communication systems required for job functions.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lb continuously, 25 lb frequently, and 50 lb on occasion.
• Pull or push up to 75 lb on occasion.
• Handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce, house plants/flowers, and household cleaners.
• Stand 100 % of the time with frequent short‑distance walking.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
• Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time, including inclement weather.
• Sufficient visual ability to check ID cards.
