About the role
PT Flex Veterinarianian at Petco is a part-time opportunity designed for veterinarians who wish to maintain a flexible schedule while still being involved in clinical practice. This role offers a unique blend of flexibility and clinical engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients and provide exceptional service.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on thorough problem-based assessments.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient observations, exams, diagnostics, treatments, and medications.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless patient transitions and communication.
- Participate in daily rounds and disseminate knowledge to the team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with state practice act guidelines regarding controlled substances.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
- Current DEA license.
- Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
- USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
- Preferred skills in anesthesia and routine surgeries including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate and sympathetic attitude.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.

Pay
