PT - Detention Instructor

About the role

Teaches/Lectures for the Detention program within the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA). Ensures that lectures adhere to all applicable regulatory agencies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Serves Students.
• Teaches detention training courses as required.
• Responsible for the daily operation of the program, which includes: lecturing, project management, and the assignment of reinforcement work for students.
• Sets up and breaks down equipment for the use of proficiency skills training.
• Teaches skills in accordance with educational standards and the course syllabus.
• Uses both lecture and practical hands-on instructional strategies in courses may include theory, practical application, skills training, or live scenarios.
• Implements lesson plans for required topics/subjects.
• Creates a lesson plan for any given lecture that includes, but is not limited to, the creation of lectures, presentations, and assignments/assessments.
• Promotes Detention Academy programs through local, regional, and national partners.
• Works with the Director of LETA and the Course Coordinator to coordinate regular reviews of the program to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the college's mission and values while meeting community/workforce needs.
• Identifies student learning outcomes; develops processes and tools for assessment; incorporates student data to modify instructional materials.
• Designs, develops, and updates program curriculum under the supervision of the Director of LETA.
• Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.

  Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, certificate, licensure at the highest level being taught, OR qualify under the occupational experience requirement for career, technical, and professional credential fields with three full-time years (or equivalent).
  • Documentation of work experience must demonstrate currency and relevance to the course content and student learning outcomes with the following experience: more than three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in the specific credential field, AND one year of which the work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field, OR three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the past five years.
  • Meet qualifications as outlined under institutional procedure, Faculty Credentials.

  Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree, certificate, licensure at the highest level being taught, OR qualify under the occupational experience requirement for career, technical, and professional credential fields with three full-time years (or equivalent).
  • Additional Eligibility Requirements: Arizona Driver’s License or Equivalent, Currently employed by an Arizona County Sheriff’s Office, Completion of the Correctional Training program.
