Schedule
- 1 shift monthly (4.5hrs) - weekday availability
- Reports to facility at designated hour for dental care and treatment
- Utilizes standard precautions during dental care
- Evaluates patient dental needs and equipment
- Makes recommendations for dental care not covered by basic health services
- Consults with prison staff health care providers as needed
- Current licensure as a Dentist within state of employment
- Graduated from an accredited school of dental medicine
- One or more years' experience in general dentistry preferred
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
- Excellent verbal and written comprehension
- Excellent deductive reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to use a computer and use/learn various software
- Ability to appropriately and safely use standard medical equipment
- Respect for the dignity and confidentiality of inmates
- Maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. for this position
- Maintain current CPR/BLS certification
- Maintain current TB test (within one year)
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including those in the Employee Handbook
- Able to assist coworkers in job duties and work overtime if required
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements
- Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures
- Ability to remain stationary and move/traverse throughout the facility, including up and down flights of stairs
- Ability to position oneself in different spaces
- Ability to convey and discern information in conversations, frequently communicate with patients
- Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations from a variety of distances
- Ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations
- Frequent transportation of objects up to 50 pounds
- Inside a correctional facility
- Exposure to some risk and/or harm by inmates, including exposure to blood borne pathogens
- Expected to work according to all security rules and regulations to minimize danger and harm
- Employee must comply with all current and future State, Federal, and Local laws and regulations
- Must treat every other member of the CorrHealth team, all correctional personnel, all inmates, and third parties in the facility with proper dignity and respect
- Background check and pre-employment drug test (as applicable)
Position Overview
The Dentist provides dental services to patients, submits required documentation to the HSARN for monitoring compensation, and adheres to facility and institutional regulations.
