About the role

Provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department at Food Lion, a grocery retailer serving more than 10 million customers weekly across 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. Responsibilities include maintaining operational standards, maximizing sales through customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service
• Follow all technical manuals for product processing, label placement, and other procedures
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise align with company policies
• Maintain proper sanitation of department, equipment, and food handling/preparation
• Use company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
• Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
• Report all associate and customer accidents per established procedures
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge and maintain a neat, clean appearance
• Complete required training (Computer Based Training, Training Packet, and Training Aid courses)
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
• Must meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers and other communication systems
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
• Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally
• Stand 100% of the time with frequent short-distance walking
• Handle cleaning and packaging materials
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist
• Meet established volume activity standards
• Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
