About the role

Position Summary: The Meat/Seafood Clerk supports the department by preparing, packaging, and displaying fresh meat and/or seafood products in accordance with food safety and quality standards. This role assists customers with product selection, provides knowledgeable recommendations, and ensures a clean, organized, and well-stocked department. The Meat/Seafood Clerk helps maintain freshness, follows sanitation guidelines, and delivers excellent service to create a positive shopping experience. This role can be assigned in either the meat or seafood department as business needs arise.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service - Assist shoppers with meat or seafood selections, answer product questions, and provide friendly service.
• Product Handling - Prepare, package, weigh, and label meat and seafood items while ensuring freshness and quality.
• Sanitation & Stocking - Maintain clean cases and work areas, rotate stock, and follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
• Work in a fast-paced retail grocery store environment with frequent customer and team interaction, and possible exposure to varying temperatures (e.g., near entrance or refrigerated areas).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
• Oral and written communication skills
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service
• Attention to detail
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must meet minimum age requirements in accordance with federal, state, and local laws

Schedule

Flexibility to work a retail schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
