About the Role

The Bell Person works closely with the Front Desk Staff, management, and other hotel departments to provide guest assistance with luggage and miscellaneous needs. As often the first and last point of contact, the Bell Person plays a crucial role in conveying the hotel’s commitment to service. Professionalism in appearance, communication, and workplace safety is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name.
  • Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
  • Assist with guest arrivals, including opening doors, calling taxis, and carrying luggage.
  • Escort guests to their rooms, pointing out hotel amenities such as the concierge station, business center, and swimming pool.
  • Prepare guest rooms by turning on lights, opening drapes, and explaining room features (e.g., closets, safe, internet access).
  • Engage guests in conversation about their stay, property services, and local attractions.
  • Refer guests to the concierge for restaurant reservations, tours, or transportation.
  • Facilitate the hotel’s bicycle program.
  • Assist individuals with disabilities, including escorting visually, hearing, or physically-impaired guests and providing accommodations (e.g., Braille, TDD phones).
  • Actively listen and respond to guest questions, concerns, and requests to resolve issues and build trust.
  • Handle baggage for tours and groups.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or property damage to supervisors.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per hotel standards.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of the English language to understand and communicate clearly with guests.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior hospitality or communications experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle internal and external customers with patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Strong telephone and listening skills.
  • Customer service-oriented and team player.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for varied shifts, days, and hours.

Skills

  • Professionalism in appearance and communication.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Comfort moving through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces (e.g., stairs, service ramps).
