About the role
The Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center is seeking dynamic individuals for hourly tipped positions in their Food & Beverage department. The position involves serving beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. Additionally, this role requires preparing beverages for other servers and acting as a cashier for the lounge.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promoting and documenting orders for drinks.
- Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
- Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking of all required items.
- Receive cash from guests, make any change needed, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed to balance all moneys.
- Lock up and store all beverages, food, and other equipment items, deposit cash drops, and secure bank.
- Answer the bar phone within three rings and correctly and courteously take room service orders, inputting orders into a register at the point of sale and creating a check for each guest and personnel guests.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, follow safety and security procedures and rules, know department fire prevention and emergency procedures, utilize protective equipment, report unsafe conditions to supervisor, report accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor, and provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as per departmental standards.
- Assist other Beverage Personnel when needed.
Requirements
This position requires knowledge of all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests. A current Food Handler Card is mandatory. Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages is required. Basic mathematical skills are necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes. Basic English language writing skills are necessary for completing requisitions and vouchers. Sufficient manual dexterity in hands is required to use a knife to make garnishes, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock. Basic knowledge of the English language is necessary to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions. Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions is essential for safe application of products and processes within the hotel. Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items is required. Ability to operate beverage equipment, such as a coffee maker, is necessary.
Qualifications
Essential job functions include operating a cash register, making change, totaling guest checks, counting total bank, preparing cash drops, totaling all other charges, understanding portion sizes, and remembering, reciting, and promoting menu items. Candidates should also be able to operate beverage equipment like a coffee maker. Physical demands include the ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift, frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, and smiling.
Skills
