About the role

The part‑time Audiovisual Archives Assistant will provide preservation and cataloging/processing of film, audio, and other audiovisual materials in the SCRC. The position processes audiovisual materials, creates and updates archival finding aids and other access tools, and implements preservation workflows that adhere to archival standards. The assistant also provides access to physical and digital audiovisual material through researcher digitization requests, short‑ and long‑range digitization projects, and on‑site visits by a wide range of users. Additional duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Preserve and catalog/process film, audio, and other audiovisual materials.
• Create and update archival finding aids and other access tools.
• Develop and implement audiovisual preservation workflows consistent with archival standards.
• Provide access to physical and digital audiovisual materials via researcher digitization requests.
• Manage short‑ and long‑range digitization projects.
• Assist on‑site visits by researchers and other users.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.A. or B.S. from an accredited college or university.
• At least one (1) year of experience in a museum, archive, or library setting.
• Experience with analog film formats.
• Experience with legacy audiovisual collections and playback equipment.
• Experience creating and editing descriptive metadata and participating in digitization.
• Proficiency with ArchivesSpace.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Work Location

This position is 100% on‑site and will work in both the Charles Library and the Kardon Library Depository.
