Psychology Program Manager, Assistant Chief of Psychology/Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program

About the role

The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the Assistant Chief of Psychology and Program Manager of the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Treatment Program
• Oversees the PTSD and Couples and Family (CFS) Programs, along with the Evidenced-Based Psychotherapy (EBP)/Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator position
• Provides clinical services, including direct Veteran care, to PTSD Program enrollees
• Performs individual, family, and/or group therapy services in accordance with the needs identified in the Veteran’s treatment assessment and treatment plan
• Conducts comprehensive psychosocial assessments and makes clinical assessments, identifying needs and strengths
• Uses clinical training and experience to interpret data and identify viable treatment options
• Affirms high-risk factors, acuity, and need for services
• Develops comprehensive treatment plans in coordination with interdisciplinary team members, including goals, objectives, and interventions for psychosocial clinical treatment
• Adjusts the treatment plan and interventions based on changing needs and response to interventions to improve outcomes
• Responsible for all entries in the Veteran's medical record (CPRS) and timely completion thereof, including discharge summaries and patient encounters
• Adheres to HIPAA, privacy regulations, and VHA Directives related to release of information
• Completes all assigned clinical reminders for patients under his/her care and performance measures assigned to the Behavioral Health Service care line
• Participates fully in peer review, assessing the quality of professional psychology standards provided in the organization
• Serves as a consultant, liaison, and point of contact for programs within Behavioral Health services, throughout the hospital, and within the community
• Establishes and maintains work schedules, tours of duty, time and attendance policies, and requirements for all direct report staff in order to ensure the provision of services in an efficient, effective, and timely manner, based upon relevant (e.g., local medical facility, VA, Federal, etc.) regulations, labor organization policies, and guidelines
• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the PTSD Program staff
• Collects data, keeps administrative records, and monitors Veteran and program clinical indicators, thresholds, and performance measures
• Prepares reports and statistics for BHS Leadership, VASNHS, VISN, and national use, as well as drafts responses to Congressional inquiries for the PTSD Program

Qualifications

• Basic Requirements: Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program or equivalent
• Experience: At least three years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-13 grade level
• Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to organize work, set priorities, delegate tasks, and meet multiple deadlines; knowledge of and ability to utilize evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines; skill in managing and directing the work of others to accomplish program goals and objectives; ability to translate management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled work operations; ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and develop and implement solutions that result in sound operation of the program
• Preferred Experience: Leadership, Team Coordination, EBP, PTSD Treatment, Administrative Supervision
