Psychology Instructor - Adjunct - Spokane Community College

About the role

Spokane Community College (SCC) seeks qualified candidates for an on-ground, adjunct (part-time) position instructing Psychology courses within the Social Sciences department. We seek applicants with a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Courses will be taught in-person at the SCC campus. There may also be an opportunity to instruct hybrid or online classes in the future.

Duties and responsibilities

• Prepare for and instruct classes on campus primarily; may be opportunities for hybrid or online instruction in the future.
• Provide availability and accessibility to students through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail accessibility and other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
• Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but be not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluating student progress and providing clear, timely feedback.
• Comply with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; follow established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, student safety, and security.

Requirements

Required:

• A Master's degree in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience teaching Psychology at the college level.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

• Experience teaching in a hybrid or online format.
• Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies and instructional technologies.

Pay

Starting salary for this position is: $42.05 - $89.48 per hour based on workload category.
