Psychology Instructor - Adjunct - Spokane Community College
About the role
Spokane Community College (SCC) seeks qualified candidates for an on-ground, adjunct (part-time) position instructing Psychology courses within the Social Sciences department. We seek applicants with a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. SCC strives to attract faculty who are content experts in their field, and who are also knowledgeable about best practices, innovative teaching strategies, and effective instructional technologies to support students.
Courses will be taught in-person at the SCC campus. There may also be an opportunity to instruct hybrid or online classes in the future.
Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare for and instruct classes on campus primarily; may be opportunities for hybrid or online instruction in the future.
- Provide availability and accessibility to students through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail accessibility and other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
- Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but be not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluating student progress and providing clear, timely feedback.
- Comply with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; follow established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, student safety, and security.
Requirements
Required:
- A Master's degree in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience teaching Psychology at the college level.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching in a hybrid or online format.
- Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies and instructional technologies.

Pay
Starting salary for this position is: $42.05 - $89.48 per hour based on workload category.
