About the role

This physician has completed residency training in psychiatry and fellowship training in addiction psychiatry and provides addiction and general psychiatric care throughout Behavioral Health Services. This care may include correctional, inpatient, outpatient, medical, and emergency settings. The role involves diagnosing and treating adolescents and adults with complex, co-occurring medical, psychiatric, and substance use disorders, as well as addressing health-related social needs such as homelessness and poverty. Addiction psychiatrists also educate trainees and support continuous quality improvement and Learning Health System initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains relevant medical histories, makes appropriate diagnoses, implements and directs effective psychiatric treatments. (90%)
  • Educates learners from various disciplines. (5%)
  • Supports continuous quality improvement and Denver Health as a Learning Health System. (5%)

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of a psychiatric residency.
  • Successful completion of a fellowship in addiction psychiatry.
  • Board-certification in general and addiction psychiatry.
  • Active MD-Physician license from a State Medical Board.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Skills

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Ability to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to receive and convey detailed information.
  • Excellent listening and social skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals across educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Professionalism and tact in all interactions.
  • Creativity and latitude in decision-making, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Pay

$267,800.00 - $314,200.00 per year.
