About the Role

NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatrist to join our team of medical professionals at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington, Wyoming. This position offers the opportunity to make a difference in a diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs, working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents while protecting their rights, dignity, and health.
  • Deliver medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans to address mental health needs.
  • Oversee the completion of mental health screenings and evaluations performed by others.
  • Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
  • Support the rehabilitation of patients and facilitate their successful transition back into the community.
  • Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs.

Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications

  • Current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in the state.
  • Current DEA registration in the state.
  • Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Certification by a Board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including medical professionals, correctional staff, and judges.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Strong written communication and verbal skills, along with strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
