Psychiatrist Inpatient Full-Time

Position Information

Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital is a 120‑bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Tacoma, Washington, accredited by the Department of Health and the Joint Commission. The hospital provides acute care to both voluntary and involuntary patients, emphasizing whole‑person centered, evidence‑based, trauma‑informed treatment. The role is full‑time and based on the beautiful South Puget Sound, an hour from the Cascade Mountains and Mount Rainier, with access to outdoor recreation and a vibrant city life.

Responsibilities

• Admit, attend to, discharge, and consult on patients in accordance with hospital protocols, medical governance, and bylaws.
• Provide direct, high‑quality psychiatric care that respects each patient’s unique values and needs.
• Examine, diagnose, and analyze patients’ total health conditions.
• Develop short‑ and long‑term treatment goals and plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and the patient or their designee(s).
• Deliver care that is evidence‑based, trauma‑informed, and compliant with statutory requirements and accepted clinical practices for psychiatry.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program approved by the ACGME or American Osteopathic Association.
• Current Washington state medical license.
• Valid DEA license.
• Board eligibility or certification in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry).
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Pay

• Salary: $247,395 – $381,076 per year.
• Weekend Pay: $1,800 per weekend day with productivity required.
