Psychiatrist - Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (Outpatient)

About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific VHA eligibility requirements and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval determines award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) after review by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Veterans' mental health symptoms and provide diagnostic evaluation.
• Initiate medication and provide ongoing medication follow‑up, monitoring responses to medication trials.
• Provide mental health interventions as needed.
• Conduct lethality assessments, determine appropriateness of medication trials, offer supportive counseling, and arrange further assessment and follow‑up.
• Take inpatient call as assigned.
• Function collaboratively with behavioral health team members, other departments, and medical staff to provide behavioral health services.
• Provide direct patient care in an outpatient mental health clinic setting.
