Psychiatrist

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Psychiatrist (0.8–1.0 FTE) to join our team at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC). This opportunity offers flexibility to practice in a fully onsite or hybrid (onsite + tele-psychiatry) model, allowing you to shape your schedule while making a meaningful impact in a correctional healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and/or tele-psychiatric care for inmates referred by medical and clinical staff
• Develop and document treatment plans in accordance with national standards
• Manage medications, participate in treatment planning, and support Mental Health Unit programming
• Collaborate with care teams, contribute to case reviews, and provide clinical guidance
• Participate in on-call coverage, committees, and facility meetings as needed

Requirements

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
• Board certified or board eligible (preferred)
• Active medical license and DEA registration
• Interest or experience in correctional medicine (preferred)
