Psychiatrist

We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to support the Veteran community in the Hampton, VA area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: 95% of time involved in direct patient care, including:
  • Inpatient Care:
    • Operating and collaborating with patients
    • Seeing Ward Patients
    • Admitting patients
    • Diagnosis of patients
    • Developing Treatment Plans
    • Managing, including the performance of timely treatment
    • Discharge/Transfer
    • Medical record documentation
  • Outpatient Care:
    • Seeing all new patient referrals with accompanying medical records
    • Seeing severely mentally ill patients
    • Evaluation disposition
    • E-consult
    • Post-discharge follow-up (patients must be seen by provider in 30 days)
    • History and Physical (H&P) as required and any other documentation
• Administrative duties: 5% of time not involved in direct patient care
• See about 12-15 patients each day

Requirements

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
• Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Previous experience with the VA is a plus

If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Schedule

8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with rotating weekend/holiday coverage.

Pay

$150.00+ per hour
