About the Role
NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatrist to join our team of medical professionals at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington, Wyoming. This position offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs, working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents while protecting their rights, dignity, and health.
- Deliver medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans to address mental health needs.
- Oversee the completion of mental health screenings and evaluations performed by others.
- Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
- Support the rehabilitation of patients and facilitate their successful transition back into the community.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in the state.
- Current DEA registration in the state.
- Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
- Certification by a Board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with strong computer skills.
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals, including medical professionals, correctional staff, and judges.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct.
- Compliance with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
