About the role
The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency seeks a Psychiatric Technician to support the Behavioral Health Division. The division provides a wide range of services including mental health crisis services, substance use disorder services, and MHSA programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide medication management support to clients, including administering injections as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary health treatment teams to implement treatment plans.
- Report on the impact of medications and observed side effects.
- Assist clients with discharge from psychiatric facilities, orienting them to County behavioral health services.
- Collect, organize, and deliver medications to clients, and educate them on proper medication care.
- Conduct medication checks and take appropriate action if necessary.
- Coordinate care services and attend medical appointments with clients.
- Perform crisis intervention and support clients during times of instability.
- Advocate for clients with internal and external medical professionals.
Requirements
- Possess a valid California Driver's License.
- Have a California State License as a Psychiatric Technician or dual licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician.
- One (1) year of experience performing professional-level medication management duties (Psychiatric Technician I).
- Two (2) years of medication program support for behavioral health clients at a level equivalent to the County's class of Psychiatric Technician I (Psychiatric Technician II).
Qualifications
- Education: Accredited program for qualifying for California State License as a Psychiatric Technician or dual licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid California Driver's License, California State License as a Psychiatric Technician, or dual licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician.
Skills
- Experience with medication management and administration.
- Knowledge of psychiatric and medical medications.
- Ability to relate well to clients with severe mental illness.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
