Psychiatric Tech - Outpatient (Child)

Location: 50 Litchfield St, Torrington, CT 06790

Schedule: 8:30am to 5pm (Summer: 10am to 6:30pm during the school year)

About the Role

This full-time position supports children ages 6–12 in an intensive Extended Day Treatment program at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, a 122-bed general acute care community hospital serving Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. The role offers meaningful, hands-on experience in children’s mental health and the opportunity to develop skills in therapeutic group work, behavioral interventions, case management, family engagement, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision and engagement with children.
• Plan and facilitate therapeutic recreational groups and creative, developmentally appropriate activities designed to address children’s treatment needs.
• Co-facilitate and support clinician-led therapeutic groups.
• Assist with behavioral management and clinical interventions.
• Support case management, family outreach, scheduling, phone calls, and related administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with master’s-level clinicians, a psychiatrist, and other behavioral-health professionals to contribute ideas and activities that support the treatment of children and families.

Requirements

• Associate's degree.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Experience working with children.
