About the Role
Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision, and values. Under direct supervision, utilizes knowledge and skills to assist in assigned direct patient care as appropriate to the patient’s physical and developmental age, maintaining a primary focus on a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Under supervision, participates in designated education sessions with patients (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Provides basic patient care with minimal supervision within established policies and the assigned patient’s plan of care (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Motivates patients to participate in activities of daily living and unit programs within their physical and mental capabilities (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Promptly reports patient changes, problems, complaints, or requests to appropriate personnel.
- Promptly responds to patient’s requests and provides needed assistance in a timely manner.
- Documents observations, interactions, care, and treatment provided in a clear and concise manner.
- Accurately checks/rechecks vital signs with notification of unit nurse for values outside designated ranges (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Monitors and assists patients with dietary needs, strives to ensure compliance with ordered diet (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Demonstrates an understanding of good skin care, using appropriate cleansing agents and other products (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Collects specimens as directed, ensures correct identification and labeling.
- Conducts and completes personal and belonging searches following guidelines of procedure with accurate documentation, labeling of belongings, and indicated distribution and storage.
- Accurately follows directions of licensed personnel.
- Adheres to policies and procedures and demonstrates practices that ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, co-workers, and self.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Maintains MOAB certification.

Qualifications
Education: Psych Tech II—BS degree preferably in psychology or social services.
Experience: Health care experience is desirable.
