About the role

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) and Correctional Health Services (CHS) are currently hiring Extra Help Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage & Family Therapist I/II in a range of specialty programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical mental health services utilizing Trauma Informed Care to inmates with mental illness, serious mental illness or substance use disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders of mental illness/serious mental illness and chemical dependency.
  • Function as a team member in a multi-disciplinary work setting where they collaborate with Sheriff's Office staff to manage inmate patients' daily activities.
  • Offer Comprehensive Range Of Trauma-informed Mental Health And Substance Use Services For Children, Youth, Families, Adults, And Older Adults.
  • Support the treatment of the whole person to achieve wellness and recovery and to promote the health and well-being of the people, families, and communities we serve.
  • Participate in health equity initiatives to address race disparities.

Requirements

  • Licensure/Certification: Current California license as a Clinical Social Worker for Psychiatric Social Worker II; Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist for Psychiatric Social Worker I and Marriage and Family Therapist I/II.
  • Experience: Experience providing treatment for adults and youth with serious mental illness; experience delivering services to adult and/or youth consumers who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; experience delivering services in specialty areas for adults and older adults and/or infants, children, youth, adolescents, and/or transitional-age youth; experience using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN).
  • Language Skills: Fluency in any of the threshold languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin), or Russian.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least one year in an internship in a county run behavioral health setting in good standing.
  • Other: Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours calls.

Pay

  • $45.74 - $57.18 Hourly
  • $7,928.72 - $9,911.20 Monthly
  • $95,139.20 - $118,934.40 Annually
  • $51.43 - $64.32 Hourly
  • $8,914.53 - $11,148.80 Monthly
  • $106,974.40 - $133,785.60 Annually

Schedule

  • Extra help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week.
  • Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act.
  • Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.
