Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including medical history and mental status examinations
  • Assist in diagnosing mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising psychiatrists
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring effective management of side effects and patient adherence
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to assess appropriateness for Spravato treatment, provide education, and set patient expectations for care. Observe and monitor patient vital signs in office to ensure safety and effective management throughout the treatment process
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to assess appropriateness for IV Ketamine treatment (if applicable), provide education, and set patient expectations for care. Observe and monitor patient vital signs in office to ensure safety and effective management throughout the treatment process
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients, employing evidence-based techniques
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies
  • Maintain a thorough and comprehensive understanding of all treatment modalities offered at Relief to ensure individualized care and referrals when appropriate
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, social workers, providers, clinical assistants, and additional support staff to ensure comprehensive care
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. Complete and sign all treatment notes within 48 hours of the appointment
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric medicine and maintain required certifications
  • Work in tandem with the Psychiatrist/TMS Provider to conduct follow-ups, motor threshold mapping, and evaluation of new patients for TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation)

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program or Master’s/Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health
  • Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant with psychiatric certification (if required) or current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
  • Prior experience in psychiatric or mental health settings highly preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills; compassion and empathy for patients and their families
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions
  • Knowledge of all healthcare regulations and confidentiality protocols, including HIPAA
  • Ability to learn and maintain Electronic Health Record system (Tebra is a plus)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite
