Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies, providing immediate interventions and safety protocols within the facility.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff responsiveness to patients’ needs.
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
Qualifications
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in Colorado.
- A current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Colorado.
- A current DEA registration in State.
- An active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals and correctional staff.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR.
- Ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
