Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Bronx, NY
AthenaPsych is a New York State mental health-approved provider of community mental health services for children, adults, and families with behavioral and emotional challenges. We specialize in individual and group psychotherapy for clients with a focus on trauma-informed care. About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced, professional, and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our growing organization. This position offers flexible hours, including some evenings, with both in-person and telehealth sessions. You will work in collaboration with our staff Psychiatrist at our mental health clinic located at 33 W 60th St, 6th floor, New York, NY. Occasional travel to our Bronx clinic is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations for all Athena clients (children and adults)
- Provide ongoing medication management when needed
- Complete all required documentation by given deadlines and in compliance with program and state regulations
- Ensure all clinical notes and client information are updated and accurate within the current EHR system
- Provide conflict resolution and crisis intervention when needed
- Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure client needs are successfully met
- Commute between sites when needed
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Certified with the Drug Enforcement Administration to prescribe medication to clients
- Licensed in New York State
- Experience working with Medicaid/Medicare clients is a plus
- Passion for working with underserved communities and strong engagement, entrepreneurial, and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions
This position requires travel to our mental health clinic in the Bronx. The work environment is professional, with a computer, desk, chair, and office supplies provided.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to hear and speak on the phone or through virtual telehealth sessions conducted on a computer throughout the day
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods
- Ability to write and answer emails
- Ability to carry objects up to 25 pounds when needed
