Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Per Diem Weekends

About the role

This is a per diem role responsible for delivering individualized psychiatric care in an emergency setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric assessments, including risk evaluations and medical history reviews.
• Perform medication reconciliation, review prior trials, and prescribe medications safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with social work and medical teams on treatment planning and level of care decisions.
• Develop observation and agitation management plans; gather collateral information for ED boarders.
• Participate in rounds and team meetings to coordinate patient care.
• Support staff in managing acute agitation and unsafe behaviors using pharmacological and de-escalation techniques.
• Ensure proper disposition, continuity of care, and contact with collaterals upon discharge or transfer.
• Maintain accurate documentation, uphold ethical standards, and ensure confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN).
• At least 1 year of psychiatric evaluation and psychopharmacology experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Massachusetts licensure as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse.
• ANCC certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

Schedule

The role involves working weekend mornings with shifts of 4-6 hours, depending on the season.
