Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care while exercising independent medical judgment.
  • Monitor and manage psychotropic medications, including effectiveness, side effects, and required follow-up.
  • Collaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services.
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage.
  • Support crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Education: Master in Science of Nursing or Post-Master’s Certificate from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan.
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience as a PMHNP required, or may be waived if approved by Vice President of Advanced Practice Program. Corrections experience in a PMHNP role preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Unrestricted current license to practice as a PMHNP in the state of practice, Current board certification as a PMHNP, Current DEA Registration (unless Chief Psychiatric Officer determines it as optional), Current BLS certification.
