Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of residents, diagnosing mental health disorders and developing individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring effectiveness and side effects while adjusting therapies as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff to coordinate holistic patient care
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling services where applicable to support residents' mental health and coping strategies
- Participate in care plan meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and value-based care programs aimed at enhancing psychiatric outcomes and reducing hospital readmissions
- Education residents, families, and facility staff on mental health conditions, treatment plans, and behavioral interventions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from an accredited program
- Active and unrestricted Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license and certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority for controlled substances
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience preferred, especially in geriatrics, long-term care, or psychiatric settings
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based mental health practices
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and independently manage patient caseloads
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and commitment to accurate clinical documentation
