Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse disorders.
- Conduct complete history and physical assessments and follow up appointments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes.
- Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring their effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Educate patients on medication management, including the importance of consistency, side effect management, and potential long-term impacts.
- Offer immediate support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, violent tendencies, or severe distress.
- Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical supervision.
- Ensure a patient-centered approach by fostering a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment.
Requirements
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychiatric Nursing from an accredited college or university; active and unrestricted State of Minnesota License to practice medicine.
- Must meet Mental Health Professional Qualifications as per MN State Statute 245I.04.02.
- Must have a mental health certification (PMHNP) recognized by the board of nursing.
- Minimum 1-2+ years' experience practicing as an APRN is required.
- Strong diagnostic and assessment skills, with In-depth knowledge of the DSM-5 and the ability to evaluate complex psychiatric conditions and provide accurate diagnoses.
- Knowledge of both pharmacological treatments and psychotherapeutic techniques.
- Understanding of medication management protocols, including how to monitor for effectiveness, adjust dosages, and manage side effects or adverse reactions.
- Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Suite and using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Compensation
This is an exempt position. Total earnings for this position will range from $130,000 -176,000 annually. Actual compensation may be determined by various factors such as licensure, experience, skillset, internal equity, schedule and/or location. Estimates are factored on a 1.0 FTE. Employees in these positions are W2.
