Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

The Psychiatric mid-level practitioner (Nurse Practitioner: NP, Clinical Nurse Specialists: CNS, or Physician Assistant: PA) will provide psychiatric services including: diagnostic and medication assessment, prescription of psychiatric medications, and medication management. They will provide direct services to patients with the support of the Behavioral Health department clinical staff and psychiatric assistant, under the direction of a PIHC staff psychiatrist.

Essential Functions

• Provide psychiatric services including diagnostic and medication assessment, prescription of psychiatric medications, and medication management.
• Provide direct services to patients with support of the Behavioral Health Department clinical staff and the psychiatric assistant, and under the direction of a PIHC staff psychiatrist.
• The Behavioral Health Director supervises the position.
• All clinical staff provide care per Standard Operating Procedures and protocols developed by the Behavioral Health Department.
• The NP/CNS/PA works collaboratively across PIHC Substance Abuse, Client Services, Clinical Care, and Prevention Departments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Mater's Degree in Nursing (or higher) or Physician Assistant degree/Program from accredited college or university
• NPI and DEA
• A minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience as NP/CNS/PA in clinical setting
• Experience working with medication assisted treatment preferred
• Georgia / Licensed NP, CNS, or PA

Physical Demands

• Frequent sitting and talking or hearing
• Occasional walking, using hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms
• Lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds
• Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
