Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions
  • Treat patients with psychiatric disorders
  • Manage medication, including prescribing, adjusting, and discontinuing as needed
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies, providing immediate interventions and safety protocols
  • Coordinate and lead educational training activities related to mental health care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations

Qualifications

  • Board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in AL
  • Current and unrestricted RN and NP licenses in AL
  • A current DEA registration in State
  • BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Physical capabilities to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
